It is no secret small businesses have a hard time with marketing. They are often limited by lack or shortage of funds or time. Far too many end up spending a great deal of energy and time on trying to figure out how to best market their products or services.
What complicates matters even more is that the tips and strategies they come across do not often align with their strengths and weaknesses. As a result of this some are left feeling frustrated or helpless.
The good news which should not come as a surprise is that marketing a small business does not have to be hard or confusing.
Whether the business is a dry cleaner, pizza place, or flower shop there are simple ways to try to attract potential customers. And today I want to share with you a few of these strategies.
Market Your Product or Service Better by Changing How You Sell It
One of the best and easiest ways to market to potential customers is to use the very thing you are selling. Your product or service is one of the most important tools in your marketing tool box.
With little effort and resources, you can employ strategies that allow you to work around limitations with money and time.
One type of business that can take advantage of this strategy is a pizza shop. If you own a pizza shop and sell pizza by the box you can offer a special lunch or dinner option of two pizza slices and a drink for a cheaper price than the full pizza.
For example, if you sell the box for $10 you can offer two slices and drink for $6. This allows you to market your business and try to get and keep more customers while not engaging in activity that requires you to divert money and time from your core business function.
Also, by doing this you can attract new customers to come in and incentivize existing customers to try something new.
Make sure you post signage inside and outside the restaurant advertising your offer. The signage does not have to be expensive or elaborate. It can be hand written on a small board inside the shop or can even be placed on the outside on your windows, wall, or entrance door.
Market Your Product or Service Better by Changing When You Sell It
Another simple way to market what you are selling is to make a change in when you sell it. A simple example of this is with a tire shop. Most of the time tire shops are open during normal business hours and are closed for the evening and overnight.
What you can do is add some time to your normal hours of operation and offer your services after hours. This can help you get new business and expose you to new clientele that work during the evening or night shifts.
Being open these later hours can also mean you might be the only available option for potential customers who need emergency services. Over time you can start to differentiate your business and start to build your brand.
As you can see you do not need a big budget, ton of employees, or a lot of free time to market your small business. You can still reach people and provide your product or services to customers all while engaging in your normal business operations.
I hope these strategies inspire you to think of more way to connect with people.
