It’s no secret almost every business wants more customers coming in the door. For most people tasked with this job, it can be a bit of a challenge at times to come up with new marketing strategies that result in more customer acquisitions.
Of course, as you might already know, a new marketing idea means a chance to be different and break from the crowd.
With that being said I want to share 10 strategies which I believe are new and can help in targeting not only new customers but retaining existing ones as well.
Before I go on, I think it’s important to point out a few things. You have to realize that every usable marketing tactic out there is not just for driving direct traffic to your business for the purpose of a sale.
The desired goal of such a tactic can also be to build awareness, excitement, and even your overall brand. Also as a huge bonus you can probably even get coverage from your local newspaper for example.
Now that we got that out of the way lets proceed to the strategies.
#1 Brand New Marketing Strategy for a Storage Company
One thing you can do is take advantage of any unused space while aligning yourself with an entirely different industry.
You can do is by setting up some of those empty spaces as offices that startups in your community or city can use at specified hours and days of the week.
You can get in touch with different startup groups or incubators and let them know that any aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to can have access to a space complete with desks, chairs, and free Wi-Fi for example.
It’s up to you how much time and resources you want to provide, but this can get you exposure and build your brand at the same time.
#2 Creative Idea for a Computer Repair Shop
If you run a computer repair shop you can provide a couple of laptops or setup a station that parents of nearby schools can use to access education related content, and other important stuff.
Sometimes some parents don’t have access to a computer or the internet at home, and so they might face a challenge when being up to date with their children’s schooling.
You can go to schools in the neighborhood and inform them that any parent who wishes to use a computer or the internet for any school related stuff, such as email, and checking their kid’s grades can come by your shop every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 3-5:00 pm for example.
From my understanding, schools like engagement between parents, the community, and themselves. You would also be helping people in the community while building awareness about your business.
The total cost of running this strategy might be time and a couple spare laptops. However, realize that by doing this you will be engaging your community, and building a relationship with people who at the time are not ready to do business with you.
Next time they need a computer repaired the chances of choosing you will probably be greater. Who knows, they might even have a computer that needs fixing.
#3 Brand New Tactic to Keep the Boredom Away at the Dentist
There is probably not a whole lot of excitement that comes with visiting the dentist. If you are taking kids on that visit then you also know there might not be much for them to do.
If you run a dentist office one thing you can do to offset this is provide a little fun for the kids all while teaching them good habits in the process.
What you can do is create a section for the young ones that consists of a white surface that they can make dirty and clean again.
To do this on a budget, get a white board and draw teeth in permanent marker, and provide the kids dry erase markers in yellow and maybe a couple other colors. They can color the teeth in and erase.
To step it up you can make the board a bit fancier and have the kids spray water to clean the board.
#4 How Furniture Movers can Connect With People Even When They are Not Moving
Offer customers the opportunity to do more than help them just when they are moving. Why should your only interaction with consumers be when they are changing addresses?
Offer customers in your area the chance to have you come and rearrange their furniture for free. Not everyone can move around heavy pieces of furniture in their home, even though they would sometimes like a different look to their home.
You can even partner with other businesses such as interior decorators to help spread the word and increase your engagement level with potential clients.
#5 How a Heating and Cooling Company can Provide a Little Extra Warmth and Comfort
Since you are in the business of providing warmth and comfort, why not spread that even more. What you can do is go to construction or work sites in your area and give coffee or even hot cocoa to some of the workers.
Tell them its on the house courtesy of your company. Its real personal, memorable, and likely to spur conversation about your company.
#6 A Simple Way a Limo Company can Provide Assistance to Passengers
As anyone traveling with big or heavy luggage knows there is a bit of a worry sometimes about whether or not you will meet the weight requirement.
One way to to take advantage of this with your limo business marketing is to offer your passengers the chance to be sure. This can easily be done by keeping a small scale in your trunk, and letting customers get an idea of how much their luggage weighs.
If they happen to be over the limit you can even take things further by giving them a simple and free bag that is branded with your limo company’s name, logo, and website.
#7 Bringing a Little More Excitement and Traffic to Dry Cleaners
One simple thing you can do to give your customers a deal and encourage more business is to develop a daily running index of the most popular item of the day.
For example if you are getting more shirts than any other item on a particular day, then after a certain hour in the day (gives you the chance to know which item you are getting most) you offer your customers the chance to bring additional shirts for a percentage off.
Make the discount appealing enough to attract more business. Tell you customers they can even let their friends know that shirts are 50% off for the rest of the day for example.
#8 Who Says Notary Businesses Don’t Have to be Fun?
There is no reason for any business to be boring and not appeal to a wider audience. If you are in the notary business why not try having some fun with your core service?
Get the word out that any people or group of people who are engaged in a good friendly competition can come and get a notarized statement (not a real one of course) which proclaims their statement to be true.
Imagine two friends arguing about which one is faster, and then picture one of the two coming to get a notarized certificate proclaiming him to be the faster one.
This can be something that can be appealing to a wide audience. You can have best plumbing, electrical, and even gardening company. Just remember to have fun with.
#9 How You Can Connect More Than Just Webpages as a Link Builder
Being in link building as you may know is like being in the business of connecting things. You probably also know that even to business owners who are used to online marketing, their interaction level with a business such as this often doesn’t go beyond the internet.
One way you can change this is to make a map of all the important steps and places a business owner in your city needs. The map itself can be as simple as just one page or even pamphlet.
On the map list key places such as where you go to get a name registered, get permits and licenses, local business organizations, and even local newspapers.
The goal is to provide offline value, by giving prospective businesses in your city a guide that serves to link many off the key places and things that businesses need to either get started or take things to the next level.
#10 How Universities Can Be More Accessible to Everyone
Now a days it’s probably common for top colleges and universities to get way more applicants then they can take in. Of course they all want prestige and top level students as well.
One way for a school to stand out is to be more accessible and bring value to everyone in the community in the form of something like a pop up university.
For example why not offer a course free of charge at a homeless shelter to help those in the community that might be most in need. This can be as simple as a five or ten day course in which you provide the participants helpful material in the areas they need help most.
The same can even be done with hospitals. Imagine a doctor telling a patient that needs more help with changing certain habits that for this month they have such and such university offering courses for free. The hospitals, doctors, and patients can all benefit from the opportunity to get people more healthier.
So what do you think? Were these strategies and ideas enough to help you think a little more creatively in your marketing approach?
I hope this helps you to start thinking a little differently when it comes to reaching your audience. Also let me know if there are any businesses you want new ideas for.
